GENERAL SUMMARY

This position is primarily responsible for management of and improvements to all torque tooling and systems used in the manufacturing process.   

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, implement, manage, monitor performance, and improve all torque-related equipment and systems used in manufacturing (manual, pneumatic, and electric).
  • Plan, manage, and make continuous improvement to non-torque related tooling, such as hand tools, machine tools, drills, riveters, and related manufacturing equipment.
  • Manage the tool repair room (on-site) and contracted tool repair (off-site).
  • Manage inventories of repair parts and new/repaired tools used in the torque program.
  • Investigate new technologies and methods for improving the torque program.
  • Assist Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering with new product integration and launch, vehicle component changes, and vehicle option integration to the manufacturing process.
  • Support LSS continuous improvement projects.
  • Manage facilities and equipment repairs, replacement, and preventive maintenance beyond the scope of the torque program as part of the facilities engineering group.
  • Plan and manage capital expenditures approved in the AOP.
  • Assist in training hourly employees to ensure a safe and efficient maintenance department.
  • Maintain records in accordance with QMS maintenance procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, insurance, and other industry standards/requirements (e.g. NFPA, EPA, OSHA, NEC).
  • Provide technical support to the maintenance engineering staff, skilled trades, and supervisors.
  • Perform emergency response duties and provide after-hours support for maintenance, security, and emergencies.   

EDUCATION & SKILLS

  • Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering Technican, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience is preferred, along with 5 years (+) in automotive assembly a definite plus.
  • Must have automotive assembly knowledge, read blueprints, illustrate and have experience in Unigraphics or similar 3D Cad program.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office products.
  • Requires a high level of organizational skills, initiative, accurate verbal and written communication, ability to work independently, problem-solving, and leadership.

PHYSICAL EFFORTS

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. 
  • The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. 
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. 
  • The employee must occasionally lift and or move objects up to 25 pounds. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routine uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers/scanning, fax machines, and file cabinets.
