GENERAL SUMMARY

  • Provide engineering function as it pertains to engineering specifications, document control, and document distribution. Process TDP Changes or proposals generated by the release of PPEPs, ECPs, ERRs, RFVs, EARs or requested by the Configuration Manager. Maintain the integrity of product bill of materials and associated drawings, along with meeting company schedules to meet contractual commitments.
  • Engineering problem resolution, technical interface, value engineering, product design, liaison engineering.
  • Support manufacturing plants, purchasing, contracts, product engineering, configuration control and all other departments in maintaining an accurate product design to ensure a cost effective and specification responsive production installation/system assembly that meets end item performance/reliability goals and contract requirements.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide engineering function as it pertains to engineering specifications, document control, and document distribution. Process TDP changes or proposals generated by the release of PPEPs, ECPs, ERRs, RFVs, EARs or requested by the Configuration Manager. Maintain the integrity of product bill of materials and associated drawings, along with meeting company schedules to meet contractual commitments.
  • Interpret technical data, as required, for Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Purchasing, Manufacturing personnel, Vendors, etc.
  •  Prepare change proposals, obtain cost study from estimating, and coordinate the change with Manufacturing, Purchasing, Vendor and Quality Assurance. Develop rationale for proposal(s) to Customers.
  • Provide support to the Resident Engineering Team on new prototype changes, and execute project management direction as required.
  • Work on special assignments supporting Product Engineering, Contracts, and Manufacturing.
  • Provide Engineering ECP cost process support providing cost estimating with preliminary cost BOMs and associated drawings.
  • Coordinate with the configuration control manager for the accomplishment of the following:
  •  Review engineering action request (EARs) from all departments, distribute to and coordinate with resident engineering and all effected departments.
  • Collate input from all effected departments and forward to the Configuration Control Board (CCB). For completion of forms and distribution.
  • Expedite effectively points of critical changes as required.
  • Determine or obtain acceptable engineering fix, review with product engineering and obtain approval.
  •  Interpret Engineering data for Vendors, Quality, Purchasing, etc., and provide technical assistance.
  • Performs periodic Process Reviews.

EDUCATION & SKILLS

  • Either an Associate or Bachelor’s degree is preferred for this position along with 10+ years of experience
  • Moderate level of organization skills
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Products
  • Moderate level of initiative
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both verbal and written
  • Extreme accuracy in quality of work
  • Work independently
  • Strong problem solving and multi-tasking skills
  • Moderate level of leadership and customer service skills
  • SAP experience a plus

PHYSICAL EFFORTS

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. 
  • The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. 
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. 
  • The employee must occasionally lift and or move objects up to 25 pounds. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routine uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and copy, fax and scanning machines. Employee must be able to perform job functions with appropriate intermittent relief where applicable under these conditions.
 

TRAVEL

Up to 25% travel may be required.
